• Gallstones and Influenza

I’ve been a little quiet for the past couple of weeks but not without reason.  Let’s start with the more recent: I’ve had the flu.  It isn’t Influenza A or B, but we’re pretty sure it’s C or E, not that that means anything.  Well, it’s meant I’ve felt pretty crappy for the past few days, but now I’m on the mend.  I even went to work today, not that that was a great idea.  Still, I’ve made it through even if I’m exhausted.

Before my flu troubles we discovered my wife has severe gallstones and needs to have her gallbladder removed.  She’s been having troubles for awhile, but it wasn’t until recently that we finally decided to see a doctor about it.  After some exploratory surgery, a battery of tests, a lot of blood work, and a sonogram the gallstones were discovered.

It isn’t the worst diagnosis.  It could have been a thyroid problem or worse, cancer. I’m so thankful it isn’t.  It’s cost us a lot of time, money, and worry but at least it’s treatable.  We don’t yet know what the surgery will consist of, but she has an appointment to find out soon.

Anyways, that’s mostly why I’ve been quiet.  I hope to get back to blogging soon.  After all, there’s some real excitement on the horizon (and I do mean the good kind).
