So I decided to spend some of my holiday money to start the TKGA Master Hand Knitter Program. I’ve wanted to do it since I first learned about it. I don’t know why, maybe so I can call myself a “master knitter” or maybe just for the challenge of it. Regardless, it’s something I want to do, and I figure now is as good a time as any. It’s a new year after all!
Looking through it I know my biggest challenge is going to be overcoming my knitting tension issues. With level 1 especially it’s something they really look at. I might have some trouble with proper blocking as well. I’m not a big fan of blocking; I don’t like to do it, and I’m not sure how I should do it for it to be proper.
Fortunately, a big part of this program is research. They want you to research everything. It’s kind of like a school report. You need a bibliography, essays, answers to questions, and a demonstration of knowledge. It seems like fun, though. I could really learn a lot from it, which is kind of the point when you think about it.
As a bonus, I’ve apparently joined TKGA as well. I’m not really sure what that means, mind you, but I’m looking forward to finding out. First things first, I need to get materials together and start some research. I’ll post updates of my progress here every now and then, so keep a look out!
