I’m trapped inside today, typing this blog post. Outside is a world of snow and wind. There are people out and about, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out why. Worse, my brother-in-law and father-in-law decided to go into work today. Why? Because they can.
The subways are running again. They were shut down last night. This was supposed to be a historic storm, 30 inches of snow, 85 mph wind. It’s less than half of that, a mere 12 inches, but guess what, that’s still pretty bad! At least around here it is. Some places that’s the norm. Here, though, it’s bad enough that the roads are shut down. Subways? Running, but not the roads.
The worst part is the wind. It’s a really powdery snow, so the wind picks it up like nothing. It isn’t fun to get hit in the face with a gallon of snow flying at high wind speeds. Okay, maybe it isn’t that bad, but it’s definitely not pleasant. At any rate, while I don’t think I’d qualify this as a blizzard, it’s still weather you shouldn’t be out in, and definitely not weather you go to work in unless you’re, you know, an emergency worker. Perfect knitting weather, though.
